Basic Alterhumanity Carrd

A quick alterhuman glossary, with links to more information!
This glossary will include all types of alterhumanity, including ones that aren't generally considered actual alterhumanity.


Alterhuman Umbrella Types

Alterbeing : A less human-centric version of the term "alterhuman", focusing on identities that fall outside what is traditionally considered "being" .

Alterhuman : A category of personal identity which encompasses identification that is alternative to the common societal idea of humanity.

Animal-Hearted : When a person identifies as human but has a strong "connection with" or feels a "relation with" an animal.

Antihuman : A form of Nonhuman where a person is averse to identifying as a human in any way.

Choicekin : An otherkin identity that was chosen at first but is now cemented in your identity and can't be "unchosen".

Cladokin : An otherkin who identifies as more than one variant of a mythical creature.

Cladomythic : An otherkin who identifies specifically as a group (clade) of animalistic mythical creatures.

Cladotherian : A therian whose identity is not species specific, and instead encompasses an entire clade of animals.

Clinical Lycanthropy : A rare psychiatric syndrome that involves a belief that the affected person is, or has, transformed into an actual animal.

Copinglink : A person who has created and maintains a non-human or fictional character identity as a coping mechanism for mental illness, trauma, or other stressor.

Dæmon : A personified other half of one’s internal dialogue, which usually has a name, gender and personality that often differs from that of said person.

Draconic : Someone who identifies as a dragon.

Endel : A nonhuman self-identifier to describe one’s identity being caused by, rooted in, or influenced by a delusion.

Extranthrope : A nonhuman member of a multiple system, who doesn't identify as otherkin.

Fabeling : A fictional identity facet in a median system, who has experiences and feelings in common with both fictives and fictionkin in a way that makes them feel positioned somewhere between or adjacent to the two.

Faceclaim : The face that "plays" your or your internalized vision of you.

Factkin : A human who identifies as another human, either dead or alive.

Factling : A factual identity facet in a median system, who has experiences and feelings in common with both factives and factkin in a way that makes them feel positioned somewhere between or adjacent to the two.

Faeborn : A person that is a transmigrated soul of a non-human being from this world and/or other worlds that is of possible mythical/mystical origins, currently living in a human form.

Fictherian : A therian whose source is not from this current earth. A blend of fiction and therian.

Fictionflicker : Someone who temporarily takes on the identity of one or more fictional characters, only to pick up another temporary identity after the previous one fades.

Fictionhearted : When a person identifies as human but has a strong "connection with" or feels a "relation with" a fictional character.

Fictionkin : A person who identifies as or believes they are, spiritually or psychologically, a person, creature, or race from fiction. They may be a specific character or a non-canon character of the same race or world.

Foodkin : When a person identifies as a type of food.

Godshard : A person who is only a piece of a deity, which means that the deity is still doing their job all while the shard of themselves goes and does whatever the deity wanted them to do.

Godspouse : A mortal consort of a deity.

Headmate : A member of a plural system.

ID : People who have decided to assume that identity in place of their own normal identity for whatever reason.

Kardiatype : A past life that forms part of your present core identity, but that you do not still identify as, unlike in the case of a past life kin/fictotype.

Kin-For-Fun : People who don't believe in otherkin and use the term kin for things that aren't kin, such as roleplaying, hearted, faceclaims, etc.

Kith : A strong identification with or connection to a nonhuman creature or fictional character.

Nephesh Mavar : Alterhumans whose identity is, at least in part, influenced by Jewish spirituality, theology or philosophy.

Nomorph : Someone who doesn't really have a defined form on the inside even if they know that is clearly not human.

Nonhuman : Someone who identifies as something other than human.

Other-hearted : A human with a strong feeling of connection to or appreciation for a non-human creature.

Otherborn : Someone who is of a transmigrated soul of a nonhuman being into a human vessel.

Otherkin : Beings who identify in some nonphysical way as nonhuman or not fully human, more specifically beings who do not currently exist on earth (though it is often used as an umbrella term). Can be involuntary or quoiluntary, but can't be 100% voluntary at all times.

Otherlink : A more voluntary type of identity where one identifies as something animal, mythical, or fictional. It may or may not be actively chosen to begin with, but it is continuously maintained as a chosen part of someone’s identity.

Othershard : Someone who is a shard of any kind of being. Some are smaller independent parts, some are lost/separated pieces of a being. There are lots of shard identities, but the common thread is being a part or, “shard” of an entity.

Otherspin / Otherfix : People who are not human because of their special interests or hyperfixation.

Paratype : A character, animal, or mythical creature that is not a kin/therio/fictotype or a hearttype, but somehow feels important to your established identity.

Phytanthrope or Plantkin : A person who identifies as a species of plant.

Polykin : Someone who identifies as more than one entity.

Psychic Vampire : A vampire who feeds on life energy instead of blood.

Sanguinarian Vampire : A vampire who craves physical blood and generally doesn't or can't gain energy from feeding psychically.

Soulbond : A headmate with a fictional origin (canon or non-canon fictional characters from media, or original characters one has created) that is in some way emotionally attached to the person (soulbonder) they're bonded to. Soulbonds are different from willomates, in that they exist in some way externally from their soulbonder, who acts as a host or channeler for the soulbond.

Starseed : Someone whose soul is alien.

Synpath : An entity you have a strong connection to, but don't identify as.

Thoughtform : An umbrella term for a headmate who was created in some way.

Vacillant Therianthropy : A therian whose non-human identity is intergrated into their baseline personality, as in, they don't feel as though they have a human side and an animal side.

Vampire : Someone who craves the energy of living creatures, and obtains this energy through physical blood consumption, psychic energy draining, or a combination of both .



Alterhuman Terms (that aren't types)

Awakening : The process of realizing one is alterhuman.
